Hammer Packaging Awarded Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 Certification
"The Hammer Team identified achieving SQF Certification as a priority for 2016. The goal was to reach food safety standards in our facilities that achieves our customer's goals for direct food contact packaging," shared Jim Hammer, President and CEO. "This is a critical step for our growth in the food and flexible packaging market."
To achieve SQF certification, we streamlined processes, updated facilities, and evaluated food safety at every step of the production process. In addition, many standard operating procedures were created to train employees and prepare for the auditing process.
SQF certification is achieved when a company demonstrates exceptional quality control and food safety practices. A third-party audit was conducted by SAI Global to evaluate different aspects of a company's food safety program, including: personnel practices, plant maintenance and cleanliness, food defense plan, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans. It provides validation that a company has food safety programs in place and those programs are followed. SQF is a globally recognized certification as a food safety management system and is administered by the SQF Institute.
